ThinkGiraffe was created by Marina Lombard Fensham in 1994. Marina Lombard Fensham began her career with a degree in Environmental Psychology (University of South Africa 1986) and worked as a researcher in Environmental Psychology and Urban Design Renewal. She then went on to pursue specialized studies in Environmental Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design (Graduated 1992). After 10 years as the owner of her own design/build firm, she expanded the design component of her practice to allow her to focus on Green Design and new building technologies. Her design firm, thinkGiraffe, provides full design services, with a special focus on environmentally friendly and sustainable design, innovative construction methods and materials. In 2010 she expanded her scope of practice once again to include Commercial building design (Certification by Ministry of Municipal Affairs BCIN). thinkGiraffe focusses on both residential and commercial design.
She has served on the Continuing Education Committee of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), and served as an examiner of final design projects for students in the Interior Design Program at Ryerson University. Shecontributes to ARIDO and other industry publications on sustainable design.
Marina Was a Board Member of Charlton Hall 2008 – 2011, Lynnwood Charlton 2011- 2012 and became a Board Member of the Hamilton Social Planning Research Council in 2015.
